EVERTON star Tim Cahill has dedicated his winning goal in the Blues' Europa League win over BATE Borisov to the victims of the Samoan tsunami.

The Australian sealed Everton's 2-1 win with a looping effort 14 minutes from time in Minsk and appeared to mimic rowing a boat in the aftermath of the goal.

He said today, "Everyone knows about the Tsunami in Samoa and it affected the village where my family comes from, which is a place that's very close to my heart.

EVERTON manager David Moyes insists he still sees his future at Goodison Park after his side fell at the first hurdle in European competition, crashing out to Belgian champions Standard Liege last night.

Following a 2-2 draw at home a fortnight ago, Everton knew they needed to score at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne but despite Phil Jagielka's 67th-minute goal cancelling out Axel Witsel's 22nd-minute opener, Milan Jovanovic's penalty 12 minutes from the end ensured the hosts won 2-1 to go through 4-3 on aggregate.

Despite impressing in last season's UEFA Cup campaign - winning eight out of their 10 matches including a victory over eventual winners Zenit St Petersburg - this early exit will be a crushing blow for an Everton side that worked so hard to ensure their first back-to-back European qualifications of the Premier League era with a fifth-placed finish last season.

The loss completes a nightmare eight-day period for the team after they were also eliminated from the Carling Cup at the hands of Blackburn Rovers and went down 2-0 to neighbours Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

David Bartlett, reporting from Everton's extraordinary general meeting this evening, tells us that the club has confirmed its commitment to the move to Kirkby.
It had been thought that the club could abandon its plan for a new stadium there after the Government called the plans in, potentially delaying the move for several months at least.

A PUBLIC inquiry date has been set for Everton FC and Tesco's joint bid to build a stadium and superstore in Kirkby.

YAKUBU is confident he can improve on his goal-laden debut season for Everton.

The Nigeria international netted 21 times following his club record £11.25million arrival from Middlesbrough.

It made Yakubu the first Everton player to reach the 20-goal landmark since Peter Beardsley in 1992, with only Tony Cottee, Graeme Sharp and Gary Lineker having bettered his total in the last 30 seasons.

And with Everton looking to improve on their achievements of the previous 12 months, Yakubu is convinced he can be even more prolific during the coming campaign.

EVERTON FC have pulled out of a surprise scheme to allow their city rivals Liverpool to use part of Everton's Goodison Park stadium for corporate hospitality on match days.

The plan - which could have provoked reactions from both fan bases - was to use the corporate hospitality area known as The Marquee, at the Park End of Goodison, which would have been decked out in Liverpool branding when the Anfield club were using their rival's ground.

Liverpool said that, due to extraordinary demand for corporate hospitality at Anfield, it had been forced to look elsewhere for additional high- quality entertainment space.

EVERTON FC fans claim they have gathered enough support to force an emergency meeting on the club's future.

Shareholders Mark Grayson and Tony Bennett petitioned fellow Blues to gain support for a discussion on the club's proposed move to Kirkby.

They say they have more than 350 shareholders in favour, enough to force an emergency general meeting on the stadium plans.
