James Vaughan shows Everton FC team-mate Jo how it's done

THE saga with Jo is just another sad reality of modern football.

Players are allowed to be a law unto themselves simply because no amount of punishment can hurt them.

If Jo had gone to David Moyes in the first instance and explained that he needed to go back to Brazil for a personal mater it might have been looked upon more favourably.

But why go to that trouble? Why not just do what you want anyway and deal with the consequences when you get back?

It's not as if you're gong to end up on the streets for going AWOL from work.

The worst that can happen is you get fined two weeks wages and packed back to Manchester City to see out the rest of your lucrative contract.

It's not Jo's fault that managers are powerless compared to players these days because they can't be hurt in the pocket.

But it's still concerning to see how a guaranteed high income can make some footballers happy just to discard basic discipline and fade back into obscurity.

Happily for Moyes, the same can't be said about James Vaughan.

A series of injuries like he has had would make some players wonder if it just wasn't meant to be, but now he's back doing what he's supposed to be doing, all those dark days can be forgotten about.

It's a huge bonus for Moyes to have him back in the squad but from a personal point of view, Vaughan really needs to get through the last few months of the season without picking up any more injuries.

And nobody should wish him anything but good luck with that.
