Remember Remember The Injured Are Back In November

I am sure you all agree when I say there was some great news this week with the reports that Phil Jagielka has started some light ball work. Seeing Phil flat out on the deck with that horrible knee-injury left me feeling numb for a week with the realisation that our centre-back would not be out on the pitch at Wembley. Here's hoping that he will soon be back in that first team squad.

We also have other good injury news with nobody picking up problems whilst on International duty - something that our friends across the park weren`t so lucky with. Of course, earlier in the month we had some good reports on Mikel Arteta's injury progress and Victor Anichebe is also due back in November. There is even the possibility of Phil Neville returning at the end of the month and, hopefully, Steven Pienaar being back before October ends. However, amidst the optimism of the returning players I have just realised something...

...from tomorrow we have to play seven games in 23 days.

Pienaar might be back for the tail end of that period but there is utterly no way the rest will appear in an important period as we try to build some momentum into our season. It is only now that I`m realising just how good a job our squad did at the end of last season when our personnel was stretched beyond belief.

There is no doubt that our squad is better and deeper than any time in my memory - which just about stretches to our successful 80s side*. However, I still fear we are going to have some tough times in the next few weeks as Jack Rodwell remains a rookie, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and John Heitinga are settling in, Marouane Fellaini has had wisdom teeth removed, Tim Cahill is finding form, Yakubu looks some way of full fitness, and, despite being in the form of his career, Louis Saha is made of glass.

Agh! Must be more positive - come on Toffees, you could help ease these worries with a big win tomorrow.

*Perhaps someone can help me out here. I have some memory that 1986-87 side was the smallest pool of players to ever have won the league - is this true?

Yeah! You will find out you will have a hard time starting as tomorrow. We have our players back from injury tomorrow - you will have yours back in November. Tht's our gain and your loss. Your horoscope says: Beware of the pack of Wolves that's coming to eat you alive at Goodison park tomorrow, muahahahaha.

Last time we heard that it was Hull's "Tigers"... and they got Mauled - by the scousers...

If Pienaar's back to see the hunters become the hunted tomorrow.... back home with your tails between your legs.

Well, was I right or was I right, eh?
You were very lucky to get a point from the game. And our tails are in the air! Comparing us with Hull??? We are much better!
Welcome to the Golden Castle! We will maule you there!

"Beware of the pack of Wolves that's coming to eat you alive at Goodison park tomorrow"

Er... eaten alive. A 1-1 draw?

We even gifted you a goal and you still couldn`t manage to win.

The game I saw had us create 5-6 decent chances. You made like Wolves and packed behind the ball. To your credit you fought and we, at times, looked a bit clueless when it came to opening you up.

I think you will find I was right.

No Pienaar - runner up player of the season 08/09
No Jagielka - player of the season 08/09
No Arteta - player of the season 04/05
No Neville - club captain
No Anichebe - young player of the year 07/08
1/2 fit Yak (20 goals 07/08) unable to play 90min due to his rehab fron achilles tendon rupture.

Heitinga out of position.
Billy playing in a new country.
Rodwell needing a break.
Osman out of form

And if a defensive error from your goal kick makes your tails stick in the air

God help you if you actually WIN a game. Which you never.

Face it. You couldn't beat us with half our first 11 out injured! Congrats. Well done.
