Moyes-Doctrine: Rebalancing the squad ready for "the big push"
Well. Thank God that is over with.Transfer season seems to get more and more stressful every year, thanks to that media orgy that is "Transfer Deadline Day".
After the Lescott-Affair and all those shinanigans, Moyes had to show his quality and re-assert his ability. He's certainly done that.
In bringing in an experienced 31 year old performer (to enable two young potential Centre Backs further time to develop - in Duffy and Rodwell), Moyes added stability. In Russian-Billy he has now got a new winger/playmaker, the right side of 25 - who will take the pressure of Arteta and Pienaar. In Heitinga he's brought in an experienced 25 year old Dutch international, and confounded the critics both media and the moaning minority. A three for one sale in which Everton has certainly benefited most if its only measured purely on paper.
Yes Moyes and Everton need more funds. But no one can say Moyes has ever shirked his duty. In the three signings he's actually rebalanced the squad. With late unsuccessful reported activity also in the window the strategy looks to be, to now see how results pan out until January and if necessary see if certain players are available then, if we are on target then to further strengthen.
Moyes has used a low risk strategy. Spending only what he's brought in. He hasn't "done a Portsmouth" and used debt to fund these deals whilst bringing in quality. What more can be asked. But now the hard work begins....
Should Everton be in a position to be neck and neck with the Sky4 in line for a Champions League spot, then the investment will be needed in January. Last season we got beat on the finishing line. Despite Moyes' efforts.
This season we shouldn't and must not.
In January should it be needed more than the Lescott money must be spent.
Bill Kenwright said this evening further deals were being chased. Steven Defour's name was mentioned. Rafael Van Der Vaart was also mentioned as a distinct target by certain national newspapers.
For the moment, the 3 additions plus Moye's graduates of the School of Science will bring us the strength we need. Right Back and Centre Back have been addressed. As has creativity. We have 5 forwards - 6 including Cahill.
We have a well balanced squad.
What must follow is that if Moyes gets us in the Champions League spot come Christmas the EFC Board must give Moyes what he needs for "the big push".
This year we have the opportunity to put the Kopites in their place. The opportunity is there to really bring in what the club needs. That extra ã30 million Champions League money.
Moyes has done his bit. Will continue to do his bit. The challenge is for the Everton board to do their's without damaging the club in Portsmouth style.
Congratulations to Moyes for getting his men. Now lets see how he moulds them into a team to once again challenge all comers especially with the return of our injured stars like Arteta and Jagielka and the soon to play Yakubu.
We have growing strength, give it a super charge and Moyes will deliver trophies and Champions League money to Everton.
In Moyes We Trust

Mark... where have you been?
Have you been in therapy to get over the horror of Moysie being wrong?
He said he wouldn't sell but in the end he had to.
So when you look at the new, money grabbing disloyal mercinaries you have signed. Say a quiet "thank you" to City for giving you the money.
I doubt you will be close to top 4 at Christmas and even if you are, you don't have much of the ãM22 left. So there will not be many christmas presents for you in the shape of new players... not unless that nice Mr Hughes buys Jagielka, Arteta or Rodwell off of you first.
Good season so far though eh?
Naughty, naughty bellboy. You shouldn't mock the chronically short of wit and memory :-)
.............
Hark at you Markie, positively revelling in spending the mazuma from 'disgusting' City, doyens and denizens of the Classless Footballing Society!!!
.............
Do you feel an inexactitude coming on Markie?
You've certainly spouted a few haven't you? All that guff about Moysie (a bigger barra boy than Boysie) being a 'class' act, honourable and noble when we can all see now that he was grubbing away behind the scenes offering to spend money he didn't have whilst denigrating the hoped for source. Do you feel mucky Markie? You should son, a very, very, muckie Markie!
