Everton rumour mill: Blues eye Neill swoop ; Toon ace targeted ; Spurs eye Arteta ; Man City's ã12m Lescott bid
Everton eye Neill swoop
Everton have entered the race to sign out-of-contract West Ham full-back Lucas Neill, who rejected a new deal with the Hammers.
The 31-year-old ended his association with West Ham when he rejected a reduced-terms contract extension at Upton Park.
Neill is now free to talk to other clubs and Everton boss David Moyes is reportedly keen on the former Blackburn star.
However, Moyes faces a battle to sign the Australian ace as Neill's ex-Blackburn boss Mark Hughes at Manchester City is believed to be interested while Portsmouth are reported to be keen on securing his services.
Everton target Toon ace
Everton boss David Moyes is reportedly keen to bring Newcastle's Nigerian hotshot Obafemi Martins to Goodison Park.
Newcastle signed Martins for ã10million from Italian giants Inter Milan in 2006 but the player looks set to depart St James' Park this summer as the Magpies face the reality of dropping into the Championship.
Eveton boss David Moyes is keen to add another striker to his squad after being priced out of a move for loan-star Jo, who joined the Goodison Park side from Manchester City in a loan move last season.
It would now seem Moyes has turned his attention to 24-year-old Martins after the player's agent confirmed there had been interest from three Premier League sides regarding his signature.
It is believed that Arsenal and Aston Villa are the other clubs involved in a three-way battle for the Nigerian international's services.
Tottenham eyeing Everton's Arteta
Tottenham are eyeing Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta.
Harry Redknapp wants to bring in three quality players this summer, partly funded by a culling of the first-team squad.
The manager reportedly sees Arteta as providing significant improvement to his midfield, with David Bentley set to leave White Hart Lane. Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas's futures are also in question.
But Spurs would face competition for 27-year-old Arteta from Manchester City, according to The London Paper.
Man City to make opening ã12M offer for Everton's Lescott
Manchester City are ready to make an opening offer for Everton defender Joleon Lescott.
The Times says City boss Mark Hughes is expected to make an opening bid of about ã12 million for Lescott.
But David Moyes, the Everton manager, is fiercely opposed to selling the England defender and is unlikely to consider accepting a bid of anything less than ã20 million.
