Burnley consider move for Everton FC's Lars Jacobsen
LARS JACOBSEN could be set for an Everton exit with Premier League new boys Burnley considering a move for the Danish international right-back.
Everton announced their list of players released by the club over the weekend including Portuguese left-back Nuno Valente, Dutch winger Andy van der Meyde and Ecuadorian midfielder Segundo Castillo - who has returned to Serbian club Red Star Belgrade following the end of his season-long loan spell - but Jacobsen was not officially released despite only signing a one-year deal at Goodison Park last summer after joining from relegated Bundesliga side Nuremberg.
Youngsters John Paul Kissock, Scott Spencer, Eunan O'Kane and Cory Sinnott have also been let go alongside Academy players Thomas McCready, Luke Powell, Michael Jensen and Daniel Redmond but Jacobsen could yet be offered a contract extension by Everton.
Jacobsen's Goodison career was almost over before he'd even kicked a ball when a dislocated shoulder suffered in a World Cup qualifier in Portugal in September kept him out for several months.
Even after he returned to fitness, the 29-year-old saw his path into the side blocked by the form of Everton's back four and he had to wait until March 21 at Portsmouth until he made his debut.
Jacobsen made just five Premier League appearances last term but ended up playing in the FA Cup Final - coming on as a half-time substitute for Tony Hibbert - and suggested that he would be willing to stay at Goodison providing he is given first team opportunities.
However, with the Dane settled in the North West region off the pitch, Burnley, who defeated Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final, are hoping to tempt him to Turf Moore by offering more regular football and manager Owen Coyle has already sounded out the availability of the free agent.
