Sunderland stroll Everton's most telling win yet

IT might not have seemed the most enthralling victory of the season for Everton on Sunday.
In fact, it was almost embarrassingly easy against a team who should have been absolutely bombing given the state they are in.
And for me, that win tells me more about Everton than even the semi-final success against Manchester United.
Playing for a cup final place at Wembley isn't difficult to get yourself geared up for - but Sunderland away when you've already qualified for Europe and you have a much more exciting prospect at the other end of the month is a different matter entirely.
Yet Everton ensured that the doubts over their ability to keep their momentum and motivation going, that surfaced in the home defeat to Manchester City, were never going to creep in again.
It shows just how many good pros they have in that side now.
The players know that you can't just switch your form on and off. There was a lot more riding on that game for the hosts, but you wouldn't have known it by the way Everton applied themselves.
But of course, there's one major incentive at work for the players in their performances for the moment - David Moyes has already started picking his FA Cup final team.
