How Everton can cope with the loss of Mikel Arteta

"Mikel Arteta is out for six months." It is the worst piece of news I've heard all season. Words cannot describe how gutted I was seeing him go off on that stretcher. I'm sure everyone's heart sank, knowing the news couldn't be good. We can cope with injuries at Everton, as we have shown all season, but injury to Arteta? Could this be a step too far for our tiny squad?
We have huffed and puffed for months now, admittedly playing some admirable football on the way, but you get the feeling that even the players will have taken a kick were it hurts when hearing the news Arteta is out for the rest of the season.
After having a pint or two at lunch (just don't tell the boss) I am in a far better mood. We played without any of our first choice midfielders on Sunday after Arteta going off. Our forwards lack confidence and match practice and the defence was shuffled around due to Hibbert's suspension. When we have Pienaar, Osman, Cahill and Fellaini back in the team we should find enough spirit and creativity to finish the season on a high. With the kids fully fit and playing well we do have some positives at the moment. Fifth place may now be out of our reach but, should the mancs win on Sunday, 6th place will be good enough for the UEFA Cup.
We are due a bit (or should I say a lot!) of luck so why can't we finally get that in the FA Cup? We've known since the 4th round draw that if we want to win the cup we are going to have to do it the hard way. Even more so now without the best little Spaniard we know.
