Marouane Fellaini bookings are unfair, say Everton
by Nick Smith, Liverpool Daily Post
EVERTON will consider speaking with referees' chief Keith Hackett if they feel Marouane Fellaini continues to be unfairly treated.
The club's record ã15million signing has been booked eight times this season, including in each of his last three matches.
Everton feel on a number of occasions the bookings have been more to do with Fellaini being an imposing figure, and the fact he stands out with his shock of black curly hair.
Following one recent encounter they were forced to voice concerns to officials, and if it persists they may yet contact Hackett, the Premier League head of referees.
"He (Fellaini) has said himself he is disappointed with how many bookings he has received, which he has put down to inexperience," said assistant-manager Steve Round on the 21-year-old Belgian.
"We have also put it down to the fact he is quite recognisable.
"I think the officials need to take a look at him and book him on merit, rather than because it's Fellaini.
"There was a recent game where one opposition player made six consecutive fouls, yet wasn't booked. Fellaini made one foul and was booked."
The fans have also taken Fellaini to their hearts, notably because of his unmissable hairstyle.
"He (Fellaini) takes it all in good spirit. He likes it, and he insists he is not going to cut his hair because he wants to keep everybody entertained."
