Great to see Everton hold out this time
Eddie O'Gara
FOLLOWING the disappointments of last week's sickening defeat to Aston Villa it was pleasing to see Everton hold out after a late goal.
Unlike the game against Martin O'Neill's side when we failed to cling on for 30 seconds, this time we had to ride things out at Eastlands for almost two whole minutes after Tim Cahill's 92nd- minute header.
Even then we nearly gave away a penalty but fortunately on this occasion David Moyes's men were able to keep out the opposition.
.
It was a terrific win against the odds considering we were playing the world's richest team - somehow City remain a bit of a joke despite this title - and the fact that all four of our senior strikers are now injured.
Things are looking so threadbare up front for David Moyes at the moment that he even might have to contemplate making a bid for Robbie Keane in the transfer window.
Thank the Lord then for Tim Cahill and his uncanny knack of nicking a goal - even when he's barely had a kick for 90 minutes.
Forced to play as a lone striker at City, the Australian stuck to his tough task manfully and showed just why he's so vital to the Everton cause.
Next up in this up and down season are Chelsea at Goodison but the way both sides are faltering at home and playing well away you'd imagine Moyes would rather play the game at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool ended the Londoners' record- breaking unbeaten home record earlier this season so let's make it a double by inflicted a first away loss on them.
After all, Merseyside will unite on this occasion in hoping for an Everton win
