Far Post: Wigan v Everton in bits
DAVID MOYES was fined ã5,000 by the FA last week - then lablled them "a law unto themselves."
The Everton maanger is not alone in his less than comlImentary view of the men from Soho Square
Here are some more somewhat unflattering words about the body that governs English football:
"This is the FA. They were probably dying to send me a letter."
Sir Alex Ferguson after being hit with an improper conduct charge following the game with Hull earlier this month
"I can't understand why they made the decision at 8.30 the next morning and they don't play again until February."
Ferguson again - not grasping the desperation of the nation to see the back of Steve McClaren the morning after the Croatia defeat last year
"I would say it is a little surprising that the motherland of football has ignored a sacrosanct law or belief that the national team manager should be from the same country as the players. I have never seen Italy, Germany, Brazil or Argentina with a coach from another country. In fact, most of the best teams have a coach from their own country."
Someone should tell Sepp Blatter that's precisely why the FA went for an Italian
"The FA say they want a root and branch inquiry, but they are conducting it. Are you kidding? I haven't forgiven those guys for what they did in Germany with the 'golden generation'. They conned us then. They conned us the other night. And now they are going to inquire about themselves? Who is kidding who here?"
Former Liverpool winger Craig Johnston after the failure to qualify for Euro 2008
"England invented the sport but has never made any impact on world football. England is an irritant. Nobody in Europe likes England."
FIFA vice-president Jack Warner - forgetting that England 'never made any impact' when they became one of only seven teams to have won the World Cup
Unhappy Mondays
THIS is the first time this season that Everton have filled the Setanta Sports Monday night slot.
They played in it once last season, beating Manchester City 2-0 at Eastlands in February.
But Everton have three more Mondays live on the channel between now and the start of February.
They host Chelsea three days before Christmas while the Merseyside derby has, absurdly, been put back to January 19.
Everton go to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Monday, February 2.
