Treasure trove of Evertonian and Olympian on display at World Museum
A COLLECTION of rare footballing memorabilia linked to Everton FC is to go on display at World Museum Liverpool.
The medals, caps and badges belonged to ex-Evertonian Arthur Berry, who picked up two Olympic gold medals.
Berry won a football gold medal with the GB team at the first London Olympic games in 1908, and picked up a second four years later at the Stockholm Olympiad.
The collection also includes his 1908 Great Britain cap with Union flag emblem, as well as the striker's medals from 1910 FA tours to South Africa and Belgium.
The memorabilia was acquired by the Everton Collection, which contains more than 10,000 artefacts - includ-ing some of football's rarest objects - from the entire history of the club.
Lord Grantchester, chairman of the collection's board of trustees and major Everton FC shareholder, said: "This is a marvellous addition to the Everton Collection and we are delighted fans of football will be able to see them immediately."
The Everton Collection also acquired a set of England Full International jersey badges.
The memorabilia is part of the UEFA exhibition Only a Game at the World Museum, which runs until March.
