Show us you're worth the money

THE long-awaited confirmation that David Moyes has signed his new long- term contract should finally bring some degree of stability back to Everton.
I can't see how anyone could think that this is anything but good news but the question we're all asking is why wasn't all this sorted out months ago?
Like the problems attracting new players in the summer, you have to wonder why everything is always so long-winded and drawn out with Everton.
We can only hope that the Moyes deal acts as a morale- booster within the squad - we'll certainly need it for our next two games against Arsenal and Manchester United - but the matter should have been put to bed before the season kicked-off rather than after we've been eliminated from two cup competitions.
A lot has been made about the issue that Moyes is now the highest-paid employee at the club - indeed the biggest earner in Everton's history - ahead of all his star players.
I don't see anything wrong with this from the point of view that the manager is ultimately the most influential individual at any club.
He's had to work gradually when it comes to improving Everton's fortunes but I'm sure he's glad that through his own good work, expectation levels are now much higher than when he arrived.
Moyes has laid the foundations but now he's been given the chance to manage here for over a decade he must deliver and for a club of Everton's size and history that means silverware.
