Just a note on some fans trouble today. A bunch of Everton fans in the top right of away supporters had exchanges with some arsenal fans on the other side of the stewards and 3 in particular burst through the stewarts causing all kinds of hayhem. This caused a rucus and then more fans on both sides started into the abuse of each other. Some Arsenal fans above looking down on this started throwing down programmes in this exchange. The only time I witnessed something like this before at the grove was s bunch of villa fans who abused Eduardos leg break. I have read testimony on an Everton site about the terrible treatment they got but I seen this start and it was a small bunch of away fans who gave a stewart a kicking that started all this. No one thinks their own are to blame but this had a very definite catalyst. The Arsenal fans above should not have reacted and as an Arsenal fan apologies for this. Luckily the police reacted quickly and the culprits were removed.
I was also at the game, and saw what happened from close quarters. One of the Arsenal stewards was having a word with some of the Everton fans who was abusing the Arsenal fans after Arsenal took the lead. When 5 or 6 Everton fans attacked the steward the police steamed in to remove the offenders and more Everton fans decided to get involved.
Some Arsenal fans from above couldn't resist chucking stuff down - there was nothing more serious than a couple of match programmes thrown down. It's obviously not acceptable, but nothing compared to the avalanche of bottles and sweets and liquids that West Ham fans throw down on away fans every week.
Some of these morons involved from both sets of fans should be feeling a bit ashamed this morning. You wonder what some of these people go to football games for.
