MP Peter Kilfoyle denies Keoic hospitality allegation

WALTON MP Peter Kilfoyle today vehemently denied benefiting from corporate hospitality at Everton after an allegation made by Keep Everton In Our City campaigners.

Yesterday, he claimed he was the victim of "smear tactics" after fans reported him to a Parliamentary watchdog.

Members of Keioc, opposed to the Blues' proposed move from Goodison Park to Kirkby, have called for the probe.

It follows a letter sent by Mr Kilfoyle earlier this month to government minister Baroness Andrews, who will decide whether or not to call in the £400m Kirkby scheme for a public inquiry.

Mr Kilfoyle's letter supported the club's controversial move.

A Keioc spokesman claimed the Labour MP, whose constituency includes Goodison Park, had previously benefited from corporate hospitality at Everton, which they said should have barred him from intervening in the planning process.

Today Mr Kilfoyle refuted that claim.

He said: "It is not true. I have never taken any corporate hospitality from Everton or anyone else."
