Bring Your Boots: A distinctly Evertonian show of support
With all the frustrations we are seeing daily over this summer, I admit even someone as optimistic and stoic as I, it seems the supporters at Everton are intending a distinctly Evertonian show of support to the team and manager at Everton this coming weekend. EFC face their first opponents in the Premier League; Blackburn Rovers FC, without having signed anyone this summer and with a number of players taken out with injury.
Along with other frustrations, the supporters want to show the Everton board how they feel, but without unsettling the team in a way our Red neighbours would, or that you'd typically see at Newcastle. With a squad depleted, and our great manager under pressure as a result (not of his own making) fans site www.nsno.co.uk along with members of www.bluekipper.net (the forums of Bluekipper.com), www.grandoldteam.com, The People's Club (Facebook) are putting a call out for supporters.
The call was summed up by NSNO.co.uk as follows:
"Several Evertonians have said over the past few weeks that they may as well bring their boots to Goodison Park for the opening day clash with Blackburn on the off chance that they'll get a game - and why not?
A number of blues posting on message boards across the net have decided to actually take their boots, and invite you to do the same in a tongue in cheek protest against the lack of signings at Everton this summer.
Traditional forms of protest have often been discounted by Everton fans in fear of disrupting the team on the pitch, and fear of being viewed as "kopites" but a tongue in cheek approach appears to be widely supported by those asked - with many Blues already pledging to bring their boots to the match.
Imagine the selection headache Mr Moyes would have if 30,000 stocky centre halves turned up......"
It'll be interesting to see how many blues support this distinctly EVERTONIAN way of supporting the squad, the manager in such an orignal fashion.
It'll be also interesting to see how EFC responds also.
