Everton want me, claims Czech defender Marek Suchý

SLAVIA PRAGUE defender Marek Suchý claims that Everton manager David Moyes is locked in a battle with his Goodison Park predecessor Walter Smith for his signature.
The highly-rated centre-back revealed last week that Rangers were keen on him and has now been informed by his agent that Everton have joined the chase.
Reports in the Czech Republic say that Everton sent scouts to Prague last season to see Suchý in action and it now appears they could try to secure a deal. Suchý, 20, is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the Gambrinus liga, having made more than 60 first team appearances while still a teenager, helping Slavia to their first title success for 12 years last month.
He said: "Yes, it is true that these two clubs are interested in me. My agent Pavel Vandas told me."
Suchý claims that talks have already begun but he has yet to make a decision on whether he would prefer to move to Goodison Park or Ibrox.
"I cannot say. A lot depends on the first feeling from negotiations or on how much the coaches will want me in their team," he commented. "At the moment there have been some opening negotiations going on."
Suchý, who is expected to command a price tag of around £2.5million, has made no secret of his desire to play in a foreign league.

He was an integral member of the Czech side that was defeated by Argentina in the final of the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup and the annual Golden Ball awards named him most promising young player in 2006.
Although primarily a centre-back, Suchý can also operate as a holding midfield player which could interest Moyes who has made replacing long-time anchorman Lee Carsley his priority. Ironically, Rangers's pursuit of the player has been sparked as they look to find a long-term successor to former Everton centre-back David Weir, 38.
Everton right-back Tony Hibbert believes that the club's growing reputation in Europe is enabling the club to be linked with a better class of player.
The Goodison Park outfit, who reached the last 16 of the UEFA Cup will be playing in the tournament again next season, the first time they have taken part in European competition in successive campaigns since 1979/80.
Hibbert said: "We have to attract the better players so we can get better. The other clubs around us have big money and they will spend.
" It just shows what this club has done because we haven't spent a big amount of money."
Meanwhile defender Darren Dennehy has completed his move to Cardiff City.
